Today’s featured business is part of our #StartSmall series, encouraging members of our region to start their holiday shopping with local small business first. Through the month of December, we’ll get to know the faces of small business through conversation with local business owners.
Today we meet Joey at Goblin Games who made the pictured mosaic mural out of Magic card art that he and other players cut out and arranged.
A mosaic mural made of cards from the game Magic: The Gathering, created by Joey Wyatt with the help of other players.
When asked about how Goblin Games came to Manhattan, he was happy to share a little history with us!
“Manhattan has a long history of short-lived game stores. It was during a period without a dedicated Magic, D&D, and board game shop that we decided it was time someone built a store for the tabletop gaming community that could last.
It had to be a clean and welcoming place, focused on the players, with a well-curated selection. We started small. 800 square feet, just a few shelves of product and a handful of tables in January 2015. Since then we have expanded in both size and scope – any game you can play on a table, we’ll support it!
Game stores are a social hub and a place anyone new to the area can go to find friends and fun. We are passionate about games and the people who make up our amazing community.”
We are so excited to have a diverse game store like Goblin Games here in Manhattan. Support a local small business by checking out their store this holiday season.
